The authentic Greek spirit of culture, athletics and hospitality was revived at Panathenaikon Stadium as Greece welcomed the 10,000 members of the Special Olympics family as well as thousands of spectators who all enjoyed the music of Stevie Wonder and his band together with many other renowned artists. The Special Olympics World Summer Games, which are hosted by Greece through July 4th, opened with a ceremony that moved the audience of the fully packed Panathenaikon Stadium. On the evening of the July 4th we will celebrate one last time. The feeling of satisfaction deriving from the completion of an important mission will meet the smile of hope and optimism for the future. The emotion of the Closing Ceremony will once again bring Panathenaikon Stadium to life. .

With these principles as our guide, Creative Director Fokas Evangelinos will present a spectacle of great aesthetic and artistic value, using globally recognized symbolism.  He will be collaborating with renowned Greek and International artists: Stephanos Korkolis as Composer, Stage Designer Elias Ledakis and Costume Designer Ellie Papageorgakopoulou.
Join the 25,000 volunteers,  2,500 coaches,  2,000 judges,  40,000 friends and family of the athletes but above all join the 7,000 athletes who will parade with pride and joy.

From the 29th  of June 2011 tickets for the Closing Ceremony can only be purchased by telephone through the Box Office +30210 8840600 (charging your credit card)  and the official points of sales (with cash). Tickets sales from the online system through internet and courier delivery are not available.

*Tickets purchased through the Ticketnet Call Center, on the internet and at Seven Spot video clubs will be delivered by courier to the purchaser at the location address provided at the time of purchase. The cost of courier delivery will be charged to your credit card at a cost of 10€ for delivery within Greece.  For courier delivery within European countries, the cost is 35€ and the courier cost for all other international destinations is 40€.  Within Greece you may chose the option to pay cash for the courier delivery of your tickets upon receipt of your ticket order at a charge of 15€. You can make your reservasion now. Tickets delivery will start on 10/5.  

**Only Family Members of the athletes that participate in the Special Olympics World Summer Games Athens 2011 are entitled to tickets in zones D1 and D2. They also have the possibility to pick up their tickets at the Family Welcome Center (Helexpo building, 39, Kifissias Avenue, 15123 Marousi) at a charge of 5€.  If you choose these zones you are kindly asked to fill in the athletes’ name in the relevant field. In case you purchase tickets in zones D1 and D2 without being entitled to, your tickets might be cancelled.

***Only All Stars Fans (A zone) and MVP’s (Β1 zone) have the possibility to pick up their tickets at Athens Hilton Hotel at a charge of 5€.

Forty of the athletes of the Special Olympics will perform in the ceremony, accompanied by 1800 volunteer performers, supported by 300 volunteers working in several areas of the production.
Among the esteemed list participating artists are Dimitris Lignadis, Maria Nafpliotou, Stefania Goulioti, Alexandra Pavlidou, Mihalis Klapakis, Myrto Papathanasiou, Stamatis Kraounakis, Marissa Triantafyllidou, Eleonora Zouganeli, supplemented by the bands AERIKA and ONIRAMA, to mention only a few.
